Non-Support Responsible Fatherhood Program
Child Support Program Coordinator
Shannon N. Snyder: (440) 326-4712
General Description
The primary purpose of the Non-Support Responsible Fatherhood Program (NRFP) is to divert Non-Support offenders from State Prison and to place all applicable targeted clients into the program through recommendations from the Adult Parole Authority (APA), the Lorain County Adult Probation (LCAPD), Lorain County Common Pleas Court, as well as from the Lorain Medina Community Based Correctional Facility (L/M CBCF) referrals.
These offenders will be interviewed prior to admittance to determine their willingness to participate. The offender will be involved in weekly group sessions while in this program. This program will last a minimum of ten (10) weeks to a maximum of six (6) months. The offender will also be required to attend AA/NA meeting if deemed appropriate, and will be required to conduct employment searches on a weekly basis as well as perform community service.
Offenders who are compliant with program rules and conditions for a minimum of thirty (30) days will have the driver’s license suspension lifted and may have their driver’s license reinstated by paying the required reinstatement fee.
Offenders who violate program rules and conditions will face a continuum of sanctions internally as well as externally. If an offender is terminated unsuccessfully from the program for failure to comply with repeated internal sanctions, their case will be returned to the sentencing Court for further disposition.
If the offender successfully completes the program, a certificate of completion will be issued.
The NRFP Curriculum is cognitive based and has shown success in other areas of the State and has increased support payments. This curriculum focuses on changing offenders’ behavior. This program will be used in conjunction with Thinking for a Change and Criminal Addictive Thinking.
